Here are some chances and Possibility's.


1st  Possible Candidate -
Top contenders for President's post
 Hope sometimes fall .With less than three months before President Pratibha Patil demits office, a host of possible successors have now surfaced. Pranab Mukherjee enjoys crossparty support. But doesn't meet Sharad Pawar and Mulayam Singh's criterion for a non-political candidate. Pranab also, doesn't enjoy full support of 10 Janpath.


2nd  Possible Candidate -

Top contenders for President's post
Vice-President Hamid Ansari began as a Left nominee, and later moved closer to the Congress. Erudite and from the minority community, he could get support of SP, BSP and TMC. The Congress will find him a 'safe choice'. Non-political, too. Currently, his chances are seen as high.


3rd  Possible Candidate -

Top contenders for President's post
APJ Abdul Kalam: Backed by BJP and SP. Cong uneasy with Kalam, sees him as NDA choice. Left opposes him. There's no precedent of a president coming out of retirement.


4th  Possible Candidate -

Sam Pitroda: The PM's adviser on innovation has thrown his hat into the ring, met BJP leaders like Narendra Modi. But BJP is lukewarm and Congress feels he won't draw crossparty support .A bit possible to be President of india for Sam Pitroda.

Top contenders for President's post
Meira Kumar has done good as Speaker. She has grace and experience. Her Dalit credentials would help.let's see.........

6th  Possible Candidate -


Top contenders for President's post
Sushil Shinde, Maharashtra's Dalit leader, enjoys 10 Janpath's trust. He has broad political acceptability. But still not clear of Adarsh controversy. Shinde also, doesn't meet non-political criterion.


7th  Possible Candidate -

Top contenders for President's post
Union minister for new and renewable energy and Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has stature and political experience. His Kashmiri minority credentials can draw support from non-BJP parties. But some in Congress consider him as unpredictable. Also a political person which Pawar and Mulayam don't want.


8th  Possible Candidate -

Top contenders for President's post
Former governor of West Bengal Gopal Krishna Gandhi has the stature. He will get Left' s support, but beyond that his acceptance is not known. Some also see him as a bit of a maverick.

9th  Possible Candidate -

Top contenders for President's post
BJP raises hand for Karan Singh, president of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), has stature and lineage. Age and health may be against him but hope still not.

10th  Possible Candidate -

Top contenders for President's post
 Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi name also in possible list, but not as a serious contender.

11th  Possible Candidate -

Top contenders for President's post
 Also Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy's name is in the list of contenders for the President's post.
